Oh man, if the difficulty of getting this photo is Oh man, if the difficulty of getting this photo is any indication of how the rest of his monthly photos will go I don’t think I’ll be able to keep it up 🙈 Orion is 1 month old today whaaat. He often sleeps with his mouth open just like his mama, purses his lips into an “o” when he’s about to poo, and he loooves waking up crying from his nap the second before I take my first bite of any meal. Anything for you bub 🖤 but also please let me eat.

By far the hardest thing I’ve had to learn about By far the hardest thing I’ve had to learn about as a new mom is breastfeeding. The physical demand has been more than I expected, but even more of a surprise was the emotional drain from the loneliness of spending so many hours doing it alone while exhausted to my bones and delirious from 3am feedings, sometimes added on top of a how long can I hold my pee battle. Worn out by the aches and pains in my recovering body, toiling over if I’m doing it right and whether he’s getting enough to eat, I trusted it would get better thanks to support from other mamas (thank you) and lactation specialists (best help I sought for my postpartum care). I’m reminded that despite the painful latches, back-to-back feeding sessions and pumping, sleep-deprived nights, loud cries, blow outs, and Exorcism level spit ups, there are still joyful moments in these newborn days to be cherished as I’m sure I’ll soon be wondering how he has grown so fast. I already got weepy when I discovered he had outgrown his newborn seat insert 🥺 We’re figuring it out together, and it’s getting better 🖤 And mamas, I hope you never feel judged or misunderstood about how you feed your baby. You know what’s best for you both.
