Hey guys. How’s it going? I felt like doing a really casual post to chat and check in on myself a little, so I am! No links or “content,” just babbling.
Anywho, I think I’m in a story telling mood because I had one of those weeks where I was feeling like it was the worst week ever but really it wasn’t at all, not even close, but you know how that goes when you’re in the heat of things and need a little help getting a dose of perspective.
What am I talking about? I’m talking about how I dropped my phone in the toilet HAHA. I swear I can’t go a year without breaking or losing my phone. I did everything I was supposed to: turned it off, let it dry in front of a fan for almost two days, and everything works fine except the phone won’t connect to the cellular network. Why yes, that is the most important part.
After spending an entire day driving back and forth between Verizon and Apple (it was a total of five times with the Genius Bar having me wait a few hours to make appointments geez. Does the whole “fool me twice shame on me” thing apply to this because it really feels like my fault), each party blaming the other for the issue and dealing with some rude people, I was still without a fully functioning phone at the end of the day. What made this worse is a story that sounds totally unrelated but it is related.
Earlier this week at one of my regular classes at the gym, the trainer made us do a bajillion situps on the hard floor without a mat. I thought I got through it pretty well, but when I got home I noticed my tailbone was bleeding. It was chafed to the BONE. Is this TMI?? HAHA too late! From then on, I’ve been in pain. Anytime I sit or move, it hurts, so it’s been tough trying to focus and get work done. Definitely an off week.
So, I’m running back and forth trying to get someone to fix my phone, my tailbone is on fire, and I can’t help but be extra irritable. I was frustrated that I wasn’t getting any blog work done, that I let my stupid phone take up an entire day, and that I couldn’t just sit and relax without any pain. When I got home from my final unsuccessful trip to Apple that day, I let out a good cry while I told my guy the whole story (embarrassing) and took a moment afterwards to think the following thoughts:
I’m grateful for my body and that I’m healthy enough to workout in ways that I really enjoy, even if that means parts of me might get chafed sometimes. I’m also super grateful that I have the freedom to take a day to handle personal matters and errands, a result of getting to work a job I love. Finally, it’s just a phone. Things that can be replaced by buying a new one are the lowest problems to have. It’s also no secret I can afford to spend less time on my phone, so suck it up girl, you can wait.
As part of my efforts to continually return to a heart of gratitude, especially in the stupidest of moments, I’m feeling waayyy better and totally didn’t cry what are you talking about.
Extremely ready for a really exciting weekend ahead that I’ve been looking forward to for a while. Some friends have this Monday off for President’s Day so we planned a long weekend trip to stay in a barn in the middle of nowhere. Yes! There will be animals, and there will be nearby wineries so we’ll be going on a tasting tour. For sure will be Snapchatting (@homeyohmy) if I have a new phone by then, and if not, I’ll be Snapchatting when there’s wifi for me to connect to haha.
Thanks for reading my weird recap of the week. Happy weekend, Happy Valentine’s Day (I love you guys), and see you here next week <3.
